Assistant Principal

Job Overview

The Treasure Village Montessori School in Islamorada, Florida, is seeking candidates to fill the position of Vice Principal. The individual will work closely with the principal and staff to foster an established learning environment consistent with Montessori methodology, community service and respect for all learners.Minimum qualifications include:

  • Current Florida teaching certificate, with at least four years of teaching experience
  • A demonstrated knowledge of Florida education standards, required testing, and curriculum development
  • Familiarity with Montessori methodology and charter school law
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing a school budget
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Montessori certification or willingness to achieve such within three years of employment

Strong candidates will also possess a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. They will be able to show evidence of innovation, creativity, and flexibility in a collaborative team-building environment. A working knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Experience in community fund-raising efforts desirable.

Duties

  • Assist the Principal in the overall administration of the school, including strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff to ensure high-quality instruction and adherence to curriculum standards.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop and implement curriculum development initiatives that meet diverse student needs.
  • Engage in public speaking opportunities to represent the school at community events and meetings.
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support school programs and initiatives.
  • Manage student discipline and behavioral interventions in alignment with school policies.
  • Coordinate professional development programs for faculty to enhance instructional practices.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning for all students.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Educational Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in education administration, with a strong understanding of classroom dynamics.
  • Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation within an educational setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and promote professional growth among educators.
  • A passion for fostering student achievement and supporting a positive school culture.
