Welcome to Treasure Village Montessori (TVM), a free public charter school. I am Kelly Astin, founding principal, life long educator and joyful leader of this exceptional place for learning and discovery. It is a profound honor for me to be associated with a school as special in so many ways as TVM.

Treasure Village Montessori is an A-Rated school and is a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. While we are honored by these distinctions we are also humbled by the amazing opportunities we have every day to shape the development of every child we are fortunate enough to have as a student.

Founded in 1998, TVM welcomes students in grades VPK through 8th grade in a facility that is both functional and representative of the Florida Keys ambience. Located in Islamorada, the school is a perfect blend between all that a public school has to offer, in an atmosphere of a private school. A free public charter school, TVM combines traditional ethics in education, structure and discipline with new age technology, creativity, exploration, and innovation; characteristic of a Montessori program.

TVM’s fundamental philosophy, Montessori, ensures that the whole child is cultivated and nourished. In addition to reading, writing and math, the Montessori program focuses on enrichment and creativity through arts, languages and sciences. This combination creates an atmosphere that is full of challenges enabling every child the opportunity to reach and surpass grade level expectations, with the goal of maximizing their potential and fostering their sense of self worth.

As you navigate through the site, pay special attention to the staff as they are the heartbeat of the TVM program. Staff members are grouped in teams according to grade level. Certified support staff provides lower teacher/student ratios enabling TVM an ability to meet the individual need of the student, while allowing lead teachers the ability to create programs that are more comprehensive and enriching. Our TVM staff members are dedicated to, and passionate about, education.They have been the cornerstone of the success of the program since its inception.
