Administration

Kelly Mangel, Principal
Ms. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and Sociology from Jacksonville University and a BA in Special Education and Elementary Education from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. She is Florida certified in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education and is currently working towards her reading endorsement. She is Montessori certified through Summit Montessori, ages 6-9. For six years she worked in New Jersey as a special education teacher. She joined TVM in 2007 as the Assistant Principal. She was named Principal in 2013.

Kristin Brucia, Assistant Principal
Ms. Kristi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Supervision from Rowan University in New Jersey. She is Florida certified in teaching Elementary Education and in teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Prior to joining TVM, she worked for twenty years in New Jersey, as an ESOL teacher, then as an Assistant Principal, and as a Director of ESOL, Bilingual, and World Languages. She joined TVM in 2022 as the Assistant Principal.

Amanda Carey, Office Manager
Ms. Amanda received her Associate of Arts degree and a General Banking Diploma from the Center for Financial Training in Florida.She was born and raised in New Jersey and enjoyed visiting the Keys several times a year. She and her family eventually settled in the Keys full time in 1992. She co-founded Paradise Play School in Islamorada with her Mother in 1995. She left the Daycare in 2006 to work at TIB Bank in Tavernier. Prior to joining TVM, she worked for Monroe County in Building and Planning. Ms Amanda is very active in raising funds for the American Cancer Society and is the Survivor/Caregiver Chairperson for the Upper Keys Relay For Life. She joined TVM in 2013.

Laura “Lori” Guth, Finance Director
Ms. Lori holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from the University of Kentucky and after graduation, spent a summer at The Parsons School of Design in New York City. She and her husband moved to the Florida Keys in 1997 where she worked in the finance and training department at Dolphin Research Center (DRC), for almost 10 years. Lori left DRC to stay home with her son and to fulfill a long time dream, to bring her daughter home from China. Before moving to the Keys, Lori worked in New York City, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach in the stock brokerage industry. Both of her children attend TVM and Lori worked as a parent volunteer in the 2011-2012 school year. She joined the staff as Finance Director in 2012.
Lower Elementary

Kris Pooley, VPK / K Lead Teacher
Ms. Kris worked in the banking, real estate industry and retail management before embarking on a career in education. Her family moved from Saint Augustine to beautiful Islamorada in 2009 and enrolled their children at TVM. She was an active parent volunteer until she joined TVM’s staff in 2013 as administrative assistant. Ms. Kris ultimately found her calling when she began teaching in our VPK program later in that same year. She is Montessori certified and MACTE accredited, ages 3-6.

Whitney Garcia, VPK / K Lead Teacher
Ms. Whitney holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education with ESOL endorsement from FAU. She is currently working on completing her Reading Endorsement and Montessori certification. Whitney has been teaching for 11 years and enjoys every second with the little ones. She lives in Key Largo with her two sons and husband. Living in the Keys is a dream come true for her. Ms. Whitney enjoys running, reading, and anything outdoors!

Louanne Bradley, Lead Teacher of 1/2
Louanne holds a BA in Commercial Art from Brenau Women’s College in Gainesville, Georgia. She fell in love with the Montessori Method when her girls attended a school in Georgia over 20 years ago. She began assisting at their school and earned her AMS Primary Montessori Certification. Louanne moved with her three daughters back to south Florida, where she was born and raised, and began teaching at Treasure Village in 2014. She is Florida Certified in Early Elementary Education and is currently working on her reading endorsement.

Jessica Harris, Grade 3 Lead Teacher
Ms Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Education with an emphasis in counseling and psychology from Penn State University. She completed her Montessori training, ages 3 through 6 and elementary Montessori training, ages 6 through 9, under the auspices of the National Center for Montessori Education in 2006. She maintains a Florida State Certificate in Elementary Education K-6. Previously, she worked with behavioral health care services as well as rehabilitative and vocational services for adults with severe mental and physical disabilities. Ms Jessica served as a substitute teacher for the Head Start Program at Stanley Switlik Elementary School in Marathon. She joined Treasure Village Montessori in 2003.

Margret Kirkley, Lead Teacher 2/3
Ms. Margret graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She continued her graduate studies at Nova Southeastern University earning a Master of Science in Elementary Education. She holds a professional certificate in the State of Florida to teach Elementary Education K-6, English 6-12, and Exceptional Education K-12 with endorsements in English for Speakers of Other Languages, Gifted, and Reading. Ms. Margret joined TVM in 2021 and is entering her 20th year in education. Her husband is also a teacher in the Upper Keys, and her son is a student at TVM.

Alyssa Adrian, ESE Teacher
Ms. Alyssa has received her Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Sciences from Florida State University and her Master of Science degree in Special Education Varying Exceptionalities from Florida International University. Before joining TVM she spent more than fifteen years teaching in Monroe County Schools in Special Education and Elementary Education and also in Virginia. Two of her children attended TVM from VPK-8. Ms. Alyssa has taught at TVM for over 9 years.

Fiorella Casani – Paraprofessional
Ms. Fiorella is a paraprofessional at Treasure Village Montessori. Originally from Lima Peru, Fio came to the United States straight to the Florida Keys when she was six years old. She graduated from Coral Shores High School in 2008. Fio is a mother of two children, ages two and eight. Prior to coming to TVM, she was a certified nurse assistant for over 13 years and was working on becoming a nurse at College of the Florida Keys. After working as a paraprofessional at TVM for the past year, she decided to change her major so she can obtain a degree in teaching. She will also be working on getting her Montessori certificate. It is very rewarding for her to see the kids grow and succeed. In her free time, she spends time biking, swimming, traveling, and cooking with her family.

Jennifer Cauley, Paraprofessional
Jennifer was born and raised in a small town in Cherokee County, Georgia where she met and married her high school sweetheart. Together, they raised their three children in that same small town she called home. After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, Ms. Jennifer decided to get her CDL and work in transportation driving school buses for the Cherokee County School District for four wonderful years before relocating to Key Largo in the summer of 2021. In the fall of 2021, Ms. Jennifer left transportation and became a full-time paraprofessional and works alongside the Aftercare Team at TVM.

Cricket Magee – Paraprofessional
Ms. Cricket was born and raised in Kansas. She and her fiance have been together for sixteen years. They have two little girls, ages six and four, with a baby due this spring! Ms. Cricket is studying at College of the Florida Keys, working towards her teaching degree. Along with working in the classroom with teachers and students, she works with the Aftercare Team at TMV, implementing projects and experiments for students after school.
Upper Elementary

Kathie Borders, Grade 4/5 Lead Teacher
Ms. Kathie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. She continued her graduate-level studies in New York City at the Center for Media Arts, Germain School of Photography. She earned her Master of Arts in Montessori Education from Sarasota University and is Montessori Certified in Elementary I and II. Ms. Kathie has her Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in Elementary Education for Grades K-6 with ESOL and Reading endorsements. She is a National Geographic Certified Educator, a Certified Apple Teacher, and a Certified Google Educator-Level 1. She joined TVM in 2016 and is the lead 4th/5th-grade teacher.

Kate Hofstetter, Teacher 4/5
Ms. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida International University, a Master of Education in Montessori Integrative Educational Studies from Endicott College and The Institute of Educational Studies, and is widely trained in whole brain-body integration. She is enthralled with learning and daily ponders the essence of education and the neuropsychology which best serves students’ academic, cognitive, and social growth. She has worked in both private and public Montessori settings and currently assists with Language Arts curriculum and believes in “paying it forward” for the love she has received throughout her two decade, Montessori, integrative learning journey. She continually explores and among her favorites are plants, bugs, marine life, photography, diving, poetry, reading, and writing. She spends as much time as possible inhaling her natural island environment and cherishes hanging out with her wonderful husband and family.

Connie Chapell, ESE Teacher
Ms. Connie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education/ Mentally Handicapped from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Emotionally Handicapped and Administrative Supervision from Nova Southeastern University. She has a Florida Professional Educators Certificate in Emotionally Handicapped (Grades K-12), Mentally Handicapped (Grades K-12), Elementary Education (Grades K-6), and School Principal (All Levels). She is an active Independent Educational Consultant and certified in Collaborative Problem Solving. Her educational experience as a teacher began in a hospital setting working with autistic, young children. Her experiences include classroom teaching (Pre-School-High School) with students in a variety of settings. Her administrative experiences began as a Principal of a private, accredited therapeutic school, as well as Principal of three accredited private schools. She joined TVM in 2012 and is a member of the school’s leadership team.

Crystal Lint, Paraprofessional
Ms. Krystal holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from The University of South Florida in Mass Communications. After graduation she married her husband and traveled for his Air Force career before settling in South Florida. She raised her two children and was a stay at home mom for ten years while being an active school volunteer. She and her family moved to Key Largo in 2020 where she became a substitute teacher for the district. In 2022, she became a full time Paraprofessional and joined the Aftercare Team at TVM.

Lesa Bonee’, PE Teacher & Athletics Head Coach
COACH BONEE’ joined TVM in 2015 and serves as the Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director. She also serves as the Head Softball Coach at Coral Shores High School. Coach has a B.S. degree in Education with certification in Phy. Ed. K-12 from Middle Tennessee State University and her M.A. degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to joining TVM, Coach taught Middle & High School for 12 years before moving into Collegiate & Professional Athletics. She has served as a Collegiate Head Softball Coach, as well as coaching in the Professional League for 20 years. Coach Bonee’ has produced over 30 All Conference players along with 5 NCAA All Americans. She has amassed 660 Wins (.594 winning %) in 25 years.

Rita Leonardi, Drama & Music
Ms. Rita is the Music and Musical Theater teacher here at TVM. This is her second year living in the Keys. She is from Hampton, Virginia where her entire family resides. Ms. Rita attended Christopher Newport University, receiving a BA in Fine and Performing arts (vocal performance), and Old Dominion University, receiving a MA in Education and Library Media. She has also taught piano and voice lessons for over 25 years and has had several students go on to work in Hollywood, Disney World, and even on Broadway! Ms. Rita’s philosophy is that we are all given our own unique instrument, and it is our responsibility to learn and practice all we can to make it the best it can be.

Diana McGuirk-Hille, Art Teacher
Ms Diana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. She also holds art education state teaching credentials in both New York and Florida. She served as a team leader in AmeriCorps (NCCC) National Civilian Community Corps. Previously, she taught summer art programs with Citizen Schools in Boston, MA as well as private art lessons. Ms Diana is an active member at Morada Way Art District in Islamorada. She joined Treasure Village Montessori in 2006.

Maria Torres, Technology Teacher
Ms. Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Higher Institute of Art in Havana, Cuba. She has a Florida Professional Educators Certificate in Spanish Grades K -12 and a Monroe County Vocational Educator’s Certificate. Ms. Maria is currently a Microsoft Office Specialist certified in Power Point, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. She is also certified to teach the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum for Middle School, received from Florida International University and Code.org. Currently, she teaches Information, Communication, and Technology courses for Middle School (ICT) and Adobe Photoshop and InDesign Courses. certified in Cybersecurity Essentials, Computing Essentials, Multimedia Essentials, Word Processing Essentials, Gaming Essentials and Adobe Certified Professional in Visual design using Adobe Photoshop. She joined the staff at Treasure Village Montessori in 2007.
Middle School

Bobbi Burson, Middle School Science
Ms Bobbi holds a Bachelors of Arts (BA) with a degree in Environmental Sciences from Southern Maine University. She also graduated with credits toward her Masters in Education degree from the C.L.A.S.S. PDS program. She has a certification in Middle Grades Sciences, Middle Grades English, Exceptional Students, as well as Elementary Education K-6. For four years Ms Bobbi worked as the laboratory supervisor for the Marine Lab of Southern Maine studying the effects of using Porphyra yezoensis as a bioremediator for fish farming. Her previous position was as the 7th grade Science/Language Arts educator for Key Largo School. She joined TVM in 2012.

Cathy Gwilliam, MS Mathematics
Ms. Cathy holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Movement Science from Penn State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Health and PE from Sierra Nevada College, and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. She has her certification in Elementary Education, K-6 along with her certification in Health and Physical Education K-12, and her certification in Middle School Math, along with her ESOL endorsement. She is certified and MACTE accredited in the Montessori Method ages 3-6 (Early Childhood), from the Canada Montessori Teacher Education Institute in 2008, and 6-9 (Elementary I), and 9-12 (Elementary II) MACTE certified from Montessori Live in 2016. She joined the Montessori Live staff as an EI and EII instructor both live and online in 2016 and has been working with them in addition to our school. She joined the Treasure Village family in 2007.

Debra Hess, 4/5 Lead Teacher
Ms Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy from Florida International University. She is Florida Certified in Elementary Education K-6, and is currently working towards her Montessori certificate through Summit Montessori. She taught grades 2/3 at The Academy at Ocean Reef for 8 years. She is extremely delighted to have joined the Montessori family and is looking forward to an exciting new teaching and mentoring challenge. Ms Debbie joined the staff of TVM in 2014.

Luisa Johnson-Dailey, Teacher of Middle School ELA
Ms. Luisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, Advertising and Photography from the University of Miami and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Miami International University of Art and Design. She has worked in the advertising industry and has her own graphic design agency. Ms. Luisa is also an exhibiting artist and has exhibited internationally and in satellite art fairs during Art Basel Miami. Ms. Luisa is Montessori Certified through Center for Guided Montessori Studies, ages 9 – 12. She worked for three years as an Upper Elementary teacher in Homestead and joined TVM as the Middle School Language teacher.

Hope Piazza, Paraprofessional
Ms. Hope was born in the great state of Texas and moved here in the fall of 2019 to pursue acareer in animal care and training. She left the field in 2020 when she became a full-time staff member at TVM. Ms. Hope will graduate with her Associates of Arts in general studies from the College of the Florida Keys in the spring of 2023. She has supported lower elementary students, but has now found her spot supporting middle school ESE students.

Gabriela Sanchez, ESE Teacher
Mrs. Gabriela is starting as an ESE teacher here at TVM. Ms. Gabriela started off as an after school counselor, attending MDC with an AA in Early Childhood Development. She promptly graduated from Florida International University Psychology Department in Fall of 2020, but won’t end there. Since then, she has driven herself to become an ESE teacher for exceptional students and has over 8 years of experience working with children. Ms. Gabriela has dedicated her life to spreading kindness everywhere and working hard to facilitate student success. It’s the little things that help us through life, like a simple smile or an act of kindness. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Tony Conde, School Resource Officer
Deputy Tony Conde is a native of Hialeah, FL and made the Florida Keys his home in 2002. Prior to joining the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Conde was an ASE certified mechanic and heavy equipment operator. Deputy Conde has been employed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office since 2007, during which time he was assigned to the Upper Keys and was Detective with the Special Operations Division. Deputy Conde heard his calling to educate, mentor and protect our future, so he chose Treasure Village Montessori to be his home. Deputy Conde is active in multiple charities and is president of the local chapter of the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club. Deputy Conde resides in the Upper Keys with his wife and daughter. He joined Treasure Village Montessori as the school’s Student Resource Officer in 2018.
